A quick issue 5 update and a shout out!

I'm getting close to the end of this spectacular issue! My hope is to have this issue ready and printed by the Dallas Comic Con in May of this year. We'll see. I'm working through a couple of comics now trying to get scheduling to work.

So far I am very happy with how this issue is turning out. I have one page in this issue that I believe might be my best designed splash page ever and I can not wait to see this issue's cover in print form. (I think that this cover is my best to date as well.)
Now I need to give an awesome shout out to Reese, a Xenex the Bug Man fan and fantastic convention cosplayer, and Taffeta Darling, a fantastic podcaster and convention cosplayer! They were recently on the DELoL show this last Sunday. Here's the video.

Reese was there talking about her last experience with the Sci-fi Expo, the Super 6 charity organization that she is a part of and her science project. It's a great show! Check it out and share with your friends! At the end, Reese shows off some art work that I made for her and Taffeta, from the Curves and Comics with Taffeta Darling blog, Mentions the Bug Man. You guys rule! Thank you for the shout outs!

I did have several requests for Xenex the Bug Man issue 1 at the convention. I should have issue 5 ready for the next con, so I will put in an order for issue 1 to have a few there at the convention.

If you don't want to wait for it till May, you can go ahead and get them printed from the indyplanet site! Go to my comic store tab to see the listings of comics that I have available.

I have posted some new shirt designs in my Cafepress store. Head over to my Cafepress store and get a shirt or a couple!

I have all Xenex the Bug Man comic books available for print on demand. You can see that listing here on my store's tab for comic books.

Just to let you know all know, I am taking commissions for Xenex the Bug Man characters. If you would like to commission me for original artwork, head over to the commissions tab in store to see how.

I did purchase a table for the Dallas Comic Con that will be on May 17th-19th. I hope to see everyone there!

Xenex gets some new duds for issue 5!

From the amount of action that Xenex has seen in these last couple of issues, Xenex's clothes should be ripped to shreds. Sometimes, I remember to draw his beat up clothing, and sometimes I, well... kind of forget. So, by now, Xenex should be in dire need of a new uniform. Back in 2001-2002, when I first started building his design, I never really thought through what influences the world around our heroes would have. I always pictured him in his long jacket and striped shirt. I never thought to deviate from that costume get up till now. The uniform that  Xenex is pictured in would be a standard issue uniform for an army. Oh, wait! I've said to much! I should have warned you of that minor spoiler alert! Sorry. To keep with the original Xenex clothing theme, I added back in the striped shirt that is visible on his arms, his communicator on his chest, his utility belt, and his boots which will be the same as his old ones. I was not sure if the new clothes would work or not when I first started the new design, but I really do think that this fits in nicely to the galaxy that is expanding for Xenex and all of the characters of the Bug Man comic!

Taylor just posted the Sci-Fi expo wrap-up for 2013 on his art site! He and Jeff from Marvindog Media had a blast while they were there. A big thanks go to everyone who stopped by the booth! You can see some of the commissions he did here on his site!

Issue 5 sketch book design- The Rebel's Fighter

Ship Design copyright © 2012 by Taylor Lymbery
for Xenex the Bug Man comic book series.

I am about half way through with issue 5 of Xenex the Bug Man. I have found that I have a lot of design work ahead of me for this and the next few issues. Here is one of those designs. This is a Rebel Space Fighter. They are made to be very quick and maneuverable, but do not have a lot of protection. These ships are designed to be a two man fighter: one being a pilot and the other the gunner.

I do have a table for the Sci-Fi Expo on February 9-10th. I'll be there with some new work to sell, my pin-up girl posters, the newest issue of Xenex the Bug Man and custom toys. Jeff will be there with me selling some Marvindog media merchandise and taking toy memory recordings! Stop by, say,"hi", and show your support. I hope to see you there!
