As I wind down with just a handful of pages left to do for the new issue of Xenex the Bug Man, the realization of almost an entire year passing me by since the last issue went to press. I have no excuses. A few reasons, but no excuses. I did feel that I lost heart in this project, my baby, and a few others. I has taken a lot to get me out of my slump and to get back to the creative process. And creative it is! So far, I have been blown away with the level of art, mise en scene, layout and story. I feel that this issue will be a good turning point for this book and I hope you all feel the same.
As far as this issue goes, it does pick right up where the story ends in issue three. You will finally get to see a character that has been mentioned since issue 1 and is a critical character to the overall story ark. We do get a new setting. No more Moon of Morgra. Sorry folks, I had to move on from the Jungle moon. There's only so much I can do there. I will have to say that I am absolutely relieved to not be drawing rain anymore (well,at least for a while). Instead I have replaced it with a city planet! Time to test my architecture skills!

Though I will have to admit that I have not made it easy for myself. In this issue, you are only on the city planet named, Apparitis, for a few pages. So you are not going to get the full idea of how expansive this city planet is at first, but it is going to be a great challenge to draw page after page! As with the Xenex the Bug Man series, I have left a very tongue and cheek science fiction element to the writing, focusing on the relationship of the characters. You wouldn't care about the story if the characters didn't work well together. At least, that's how I feel. I do get to divulge a little of Xenex's past, and the past of the universe. There's a lot there.

Overall, I'm very happy with this issue. I should have it ready to print on Ka-Blam within the next month. Some of that depends on when the editor can go over it to make sure everything is perfection. If it runs a little over, please don't judge. I make this book in my spare time, and I find I have less and less of it as the days go on. I'm not done bringing you issues! Let's just hope it doesn't take so long the next issue.
If you guys know me, I hope that you have been entertained by the daily sketch cards I've been posting on my personal art site,
www.taylorlymbery.com to help pay for the Dallas Comic Con table. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Oh yeah... Dallas Comic Con.
HEY EVERYBODY! DALLAS COMIC CON IS COMING UP QUICK! READ BELOW!
Now, I'm going to have a bunch of sketch cards available at the Dallas Comic Con. I'll be selling them for $10. I am also opening commissions of sketch cards. They will also be $10 + shipping and handling which will be $6 in the continental United States of America. I'll have to get a quote for any territories outside of that. I will also open up my colored page line drawings for commissions. Same price as the sketch cards, but I'll have to check on the shipping (due to the difference in size). If you want to see what I mean by colored sheet drawing, go here. If you want a sketch card, send me an e-mail to taylorlymbery@gmail.com. Name your character and we will go from there. Again, these sketch cards and commissions help pay for the tables and the supplies, so please, don't hesitate to help support by buying art work from me. I'm an independent artist, so I don't make a lot of money. I do this work because I'm passionate about it and want to bring you cool stories and illustrations. So, if you are in the neighborhood...
The Convention will be May 19th-20th. It will be at the Irving Convention Center that is located at 500 W Las Colinas Blvd. , Irving, TX. Tickets for Saturday will be $25.00 for 11:00am to 7:00pm, and tickets for Sunday will be $20.00 for 11:00am to 4:00pm. If you happen to go to the Convention, stop by and say hi to Rob and I. Also, Rob just posted some info about what he will have at the table. You can check out what he has to say here.
If you are a ongoing Xenex the Bug Man fan ( and I know I picked up a couple at the last few conventions) I would like to take the time to thank you! :D You guys are awesome! So, with that being said, yes, we have a new Bug Man site! This should be a load easier to update and maintain. When I get back to it, I will get a new page posted with the origin story pages on the site. I did have someone ask about that.
Well, I think that's about it. If you are new to the Bug Man series and want to help out, subscribe to the RSS, follow the blog and /or like the facebook page! I'll add an e-mail update button and any other buttons I can think of that will make viewing this content easier.
Thank you all for the support!
